A meeting called by Ethiopian Airlines with the families of the victims of Sunday crash has ended in chaos.

Events preceding the cancellation of the heated meeting included the election of three individuals including a Kenyan who was even kicked out of the hotel establishment owned by the airline where the meeting was held.

It is a twist that points to tough days ahead for both the families and the Ethiopian Government over the unresolved accident that cost 157 lives, with Kenyan citizens as the single biggest group of the bereaved.

Hundreds of the grieving families had demanded answers on when the remains would be released and the progress of identification.

But the airline officials informed them that none of that was their responsibility, passing the buck to the Ministry of Health, which received and secured the body parts, and the Ethiopian Police.

Remains of the victims are believed to be stored at the Menelik Hospital Mortuary in the city but there has been no independent confirmation by respective embassies or the family members.

"We are not getting any assistance from these people, they are not giving us any answers and the guys who are supposed to inform us are passing the buck. We do not want to stay here," said a Kenyan family member who said he lost a wife.

He refused to disclose his identity for fear of harassment by authorities.
