A General Service Unit Officer (GSU) suspected of defiling a teenage girl will have to wait another two weeks for his trial date to be set.

Bernard Kipng’etich was set to start his trial on Friday in a Nakuru law court but it was deferred since the trial magistrate was away on official duties.

The officer was on November 19, 2018 charged with defiling a 17-year-old girl before Principal Magistrate Joe Omido.

The charge sheet indicates that the suspect allegedly defiled the minor on diverse dates between November 10 and November 14 at Nessuit Area in Njoro Sub-County within Nakuru County.

The GSU officer attached in Marsabit also faced with another charge of committing an indecent act with the minor and was alleged to have touched her private parts during the incident.

He has denied both charges and he is out on a surety bond of Sh500,000.

According to the police, the minor went missing from her home within the four days she was allegedly defiled.

Reports also indicate that the mother of the girl who is a form three student went to Njoro Police Station and reported that her daughter went missing on November 10 and returned home on November 14, 2018.

The matter was recorded under OB number 19/15/11/2018.

“It was established that accused lured the girl to a lodging in Nessuit Market where he detained and defiled her for four days,” read the police report.

Afterwards, report stated, the girl was taken to the station and later to Njoro Sub-County Hospital for examination.

The two were taken to custody; the girl was released while Bernard remained in custody.
