Tony Gachoka to host political show on KTN News

Political activist Tony Gachoka is set to make a comeback to the Media after landing a slot as a talk show host at The Standard Group.

The show christened Point Blank, will run on KTN Home and KTN News and will be broadcast weekly. The one-hour interview will consist one-on-one interviews.

In a tweet, Gachoka said he is all set for the new programme, whose first show is expected to air tomorrow night at 9.45.

“The programme will be innovative, thought-provoking and will be intellectually tilted. The focus of the show will be to dissect issues, ask hard questions and critically look at new headlines,” Gachoka said.

The show will feature prominent personalities including politicians, business leaders, environmentalists and other opinion leaders.

“I have chosen to use a unique style of approach to issues that affect the society. The cardinal rule of Journalism is opinion is free, but facts are scared. I am promising a straight forward show that will live up to its mission statement,” Gachoka said.

Gachoka said the show will look at what is going on in the society, what is being planned and even that which is being disregarded.

He said will stick to the highest standards of broadcast information that observe best practices.

“We call on viewers to change their diaries and be in front of their Ktn News television channel every Wednesday night to follow this adventure,” Gachoka said.

Previously, Gachoka was the chief executive at Finance Magazine, which he ran with veteran publisher Njehu Gatabaki until 1995.

In 1997, Gachoka launched his own publication, The Post on Sunday. In 1999, he published an article about corruption in the Judiciary which saw him jailed for six months. He was, however, freed on a Presidential pardon after two and a half month behind bars.

Past shows

A few years later, he became a panelist, alongside Mukhisa Kituyi and the late Mutula Kilonzo, on Kiss 100 show called Crossfire.

In 2008, Gachoka started another show on KBC known as the Hot Seat.

He has hosted other shows including Morning Express with Sophia Wanuna on KTN. He was also a frequent quest on Jeff Koinange Live that aired on KTN. Gachoka has also been a newspaper columnist.

He was the Chief of Protocol for Opposition leader Raila Odinga when he was Prime Minister during the coalition government.
