A Security officer attached to Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana has been accused of attacking and assaulting former Wote/Nziu MCA Sammy Maseka in a burial ceremony in Itandi village, Makueni constituency on Saturday.

According to eyewitnesses, Maseka, a firm critic of Governor Kibwana stood in the burial where he called on the governor to respect Wiper leader kalonzo Musyoka saying that he (Kibwana) was not an equal to the former vice president and that he can’t fit in his shoes.

It was these words that infuriated Muinde Nzioka, one of Kibwana’s security detail and punched him severally leading to collapse of the former ward rep.

He was rushed to a private hospital at Wote town where he is recuperating.

When the standard paid him a visit at the facility on Sunday, he said, “When I was attacked the governor wasn’t present. I think the guard had been sent to specifically attack and silence me”.

He continued: “He jumped on my neck, twisted it and rained blows on me before throwing me to the ground. I live with a metal strip on my hand due to a fracture I got some time back that was also twisted,” he said before nurses took him away in a private room.

Maseka-Kibwana relationship has been sour. The now hospitalized vocal Maseka sponsored a motion that led to impeachment of Kibwana during the first county government regime.

This led to a near dissolution of the Kibwana’s government.

Makueni Police Commander Joseph Naipeiyan said the case was reported under OB43/2/2/2019.

The assault came a day after Kibwana was told to resign immediately from the Wiper party by Wiper MCAs.
