Snake bite victim appeals for help to offset hospital bill

Tarkok Chelimo, 65, from Chebinying village had her leg amputated following a snake bite.

The elderly woman (pictured) is yet to raise a medical bill of Sh135,000 at the Rift Valley Provincial General Hospital.

Chelimo was busy cultivating her farm on September 14, when the serpent struck.

“I am saddened and still in shock, I can no longer work as I used to and I am unable to offset my medical bill,” said Chelimo.

Her family is requesting help from Kenyans to settle the bill.

“My aunt went to two dispensaries in Baringo, one was locked whereas another did not have antivenom. This is why she was referred to the provincial hospital because we wanted to save her life but it is unfortunate we are unable to raise the money,” said Jonathan Kiprop, a nephew.
