Woman seeks justice for daughter defiled by shopkeeper

A woman in Eldama Ravine is seeking justice for her 10-year-old daughter allegedly defiled in Boito, Timboroa.

She claimed that the child was defiled by a shopkeeper at the shopping centre but the man was still free.

The incident was said to have happened on December 10, 2018, and was reported at the Timboroa Police Station on December 12.

"I reported the case on December 12 at Timboroa after taking the child to hospital," said the woman.

She said she suspected all was not well when she found the minor with two Sh50 notes.

“I had left her to wash dishes as I went to church. Unfortunately, when I came back, she had not done so but instead had a Sh50 note which she told me that she had picked up on the road. The following day, she had two Sh50 notes. When I reprimanded her, she revealed she was given the money by the shopkeeper after he defiled her.”

The woman said she reported the matter to the police station the following day and the suspect was arrested.

“But was released although we've not yet gone to court,” the mother said.

The girl said the suspect called her into the shop, removed her clothes and defiled her, then gave her a sweet, chewing gum and money.

An officer at Timboroa Police Station said the case was referred to Eldama Ravine.

Eldama Ravine Directorate of Criminal Investigations Officer Brian Walucho, however, said he was not aware of it.
