A Mombasa-based businessman claiming to be an FBI agent was charged in court with attempt to kill his wife on several occasions by pointing a gun at her.

The charge sheet read that between June 6 and 26 at Nyali Links without lawful excuse, Samir Gulamabbas Baloo threatened to kill Noreen Kosar Gulam by pointing at gun at her.

The State prosecution opposed Baloo’s release on grounds that he was a threat to his wife and witnesses.

“Your honour, the accused on several occasions has threatened to kill and dispose of their bodies in the ocean. His release is a threat to the wife and witnesses,” said Michieka.

Baloo, who appeared before Principal Magistrate Martin Rabera denied the charges and was released on Sh100,000 bond.

“The accused is hereby released on a bond of Sh100,000 and his case shall be heard on January 15, 2019,” Rabera said.

According to a report filed by Mohaed Shahid Moughai, Gulam’s father, his son-in-law had also threatened to kill him. Moughai had written a letter to Independent Policing Oversight Authority, DCI, OCS Central, Makupa and Nyali, County Commander, EACC Chairman and Ministry of Internal Security to protest the delay of justice.
