Duo in the dock after raiding alcohol firm

Two men have landed in trouble for allegedly stealing goods worth Sh20 million from an Alcohol Company while armed with pistols.

Joseph Chege, 61, and Moses Mwaura, 31, allegedly committed the offence on November 25 at Algarves Distillers along the Eastern Bypass around 5:30pm.

Thay are said to have posed as workers from the Kenya Revenue Authority.

Police say the two arrived at the company, saying they were tipped that the company is producing illicit liquor.

As they were being shown the documents, they tied the administrator and left him in the changing room.

Others locked up inlcuded the accountant and two other workers. Their phones were taken away.

Chege and Mwaura allegedly stole CCTV cameras, monitoring screens, computers, TVs, generators, vibrators, grinders and cartons of alcohol.

But the administrator raised the alarm and they were helped.

The stolen goods were traced and the duo arrested.

They were set free on a personal bond of Sh2 million with a surety.

The matter will be heard on March 22.
