Man Utd 'to block January transfers' after Jose Mourinho gives up on 3 of his signings

Jose Mourinho could be set for more transfer frustration when the January window opens.

The Manchester United boss was furious that he failed to land his top targets last summer.

United were linked with Harry Maguire and Toby Alderweireld among others but United's hierarchy opted against pushing through deals.

Mourinho still wants a central defender with Milan Skriniar and Nikola Milenkovic linked but United are not making any serious effort to bring anyone in, reports the Independent.

It is claimed the United boss has no chance to sit down with Ed Woodward to draft a list of potential transfer targets.

While United's hierarchy are mindful over Mourinho's long-term future, they are said to be concerned over some recent transfers.

One of the deals in question is the £52m acquisition of midfielder Fred from Shakhtar.

United pipped City to the Brazilian with Mourinho a big fan, but it is suggested the Portuguese boss has not been impressed with his performances to date.

The signings of Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof have also come under scrutiny with Mourinho uncertain over the pair.

Bailly was one of his first signings but his form has dropped dramatically and United could look to move him on to fund a move for one of their targets.

Lindelof meanwhile has been a regular in recent months but it is claimed Mourinho is not 100 per cent convinced.
