More than 130 new Technical Training Institutions in the pipeline

The Principal Secretary said that one of the key reforms in TVET sector was the establishment of Curriculum Development Assessment and Certification Council. “The council has reformed TVET Curricula from programme-based training to competency-based education and training,” said Desai. The government has also shifted the management of TVET trainers from the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to the Public Service Commission. However, according to the Director Technical Education, Meshack Opwora, up to 30 per cent of funds set aside in loans for TVET trainees have not been claimed.
