It's an open secret that Neymar somewhat regrets his big-money move to Paris Saint-Germain.

The Brazil star joined French champions Paris Saint-Germain last summer in a world-record £200million move - but then is is believed to have almost instantly regretted the switch.

Now sources close to the Brazilian superstar have laid out why he's plotting a move to back Barcelona - and it's got a lot to do with Kylian Mbappe.

The French wonderkid has been in sensational form after winning the World Cup - scoring goals for fun both internationally and domestically.

And Neymar is worried the 19-year-old is overshadowing him, according to Mundo.

As a World Cup-winning idol, and a Frenchman, Neymar believes more acclaim will go the speedy winger - especially as he's so young and marketable.

For example last week Mbappe was on the front cover of Time magazine - one of the few footballers to be cover story. Neymar has never had that honour.

Neymar is finding it hard to get himself motivated for Ligue 1 games due to the standard of the league - especially opponents attempt to wind him up and target him.

But that's not the only reason he wants to go back according to the Spanish source.

Neymar also misses his former Nou Camp team-mates, keeping in touch with the likes of Lionel Messi, Rafinha and Luis Suarez.

He also misses the size and grandeur of the Nou Camp - and the Mediterranean climate.

Last month Neymar reportedly asked Barcelona help him secure a move back to the club - but received a lukewarm response.

Neymar, 26, retains a good relationship with some of Barcelona's staff and has reportedly spoken to one executive about a return.

But the La Liga champions are reluctant to bring the Brazilian back due to those - including his father - who advise him.

They also believe they have adequately replaced Neymar since he left.
