Arsene Wenger will be offered the chance to become president of Paris Saint-Germain.

The Ligue 1 giants want the Frenchman to run the club with former Borussia Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel, who is set to replace manager Unai Emery, concentrating solely on first-team affairs.

Wenger has had a hand in every aspect of Arsenal’s football business during his 22 years at the club.

And PSG want to tap into his extensive knowledge of the game and its politics, as well as his unrivalled contacts book.

Wenger announced on Friday that he would leave Arsenal at the end of the season, a year before his contract expires.

He had been left with little choice but to stand down, though, with the board deciding at least two weeks ago that this would be his last season in charge.

Arsenal will pay Wenger £11million in severance as a thank you for two decades at the club in which he won three Premier League titles and a record seven FA Cups.

He is expected to face the media for the first time following his announcement after today’s clash with West Ham.

The process of identifying Arsenal’s new boss is now well under way with Wenger backing Patrick Vieira for the job.

However, the board are split with Carlo Ancelotti the other leading candidate
