Stars dip in FIFA ranking, Germany maintains top and Uganda climbs

Kenya has sunk deeper by eight places in the latest FIFA rankings which were released on Thursday April 12. According to the ranking which is released after international games, Harambee Stars now sit at position 113 with 289 points on the log after dropping all the way from 105 in the past ranking.

World Champions Germany still sit at the apex of the table with 1533 points as Brazil comes second with 1384 points. Belgium is among the most improved teams after moving 2 places up the table to position three with 1346 points.

Former champions Spain who have remained on a winning streak since changing their coach after the European matches in 2016 have however suffered a blip by moving two places to position 8 with 1162 points.

In Africa, Tunisia is the top-most ranked team after garnering 1012 points and climbing 9 places in the table. Senegal follows from a distant at number two in Africa but 28 overall with 825 points. DR Congo comes third but at position 38 in the world with 711 points.

Kenyan neighbours Uganda have also climbed up the table by four places and are at position 74 with 426 points. The ranking comes after Kenya registered checkered results in the recent international games, where Harambee Stars drew 2-2 against Comoros before slumping 3-2 against Central African Republic in Morocoo.

Performances elicited quick response from the Football Kenya Federation, which dismissed the entire technical team as well as redeploying former coach Stanley Okumbi to the under-20 side.
