Waiguru partners with national government to ensure realisation of Big Four agenda

Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has promised to work closely with the national government to ensure the realisation of the Big Four agenda.

Speaking at a fundraiser graced by Deputy President William Ruto, Governor Waiguru said that by supporting the national government agenda, the people of Kirinyaga will benefit from some of the projects including manufacturing, infrastructure development and health reforms.

“I would like to assure you deputy president that we will support you and His Excellency the President in the realisation of the Big Four agenda,” she noted.

Waiguru further lauded the government’s promise to avail CT scan machines at Kerugoya Level Four hospital saying the move will save patients the long trips to Nairobi in search of such services.

She said her government will provide land for the setting up of a medical training college in Kirinyaga.

Governor Waiguru further promised to work with the national government in the setting up an industrial park in Ndia which will ensure value addition and create jobs for the people of Kirinyaga, in line with her Mountain Cities Blueprint.

She called on political leaders in the county to shun politics of division and focus on improving the lives of the people of Kirinyaga.

“I have never engaged in divisive and abusive politics in my political career. Even during the campaigns, I made a point of keeping off politics of insults and incitement,” she said.

“Time for politics is over, my focus now is to deliver on the promises that the I made to the people of Kirinyaga and ensure the living standard of the people of Kirinyaga is improved.

In his speech Deputy President William Ruto promised to work closely with Governor Waiguru’s government to roll out projects in the county.

DP Ruto said the CT scan machines, set to be purchased by the national government to the tune of Ksh200 million are set to arrive at Kerugoya hospital in the next 6 months.

"We have partnered with County government to ensure there is affordable health care to all Kenyans. This is one of the steps we are taking to ensure we move towards the attainment of affordable health care for Kenyans.” He said.
