Chelsea star unhappy after being dropped by Spain coach

Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso recently got a call-up to represent his country Spain in the national duties, after making a mark with English outfit Chelsea.

Nonetheless, Alonso’s joy is an antithesis of how his compatriot and Chelsea teammate Alvaro Morata feels after being sidelined by the national team coach Julen Lopetegui in recent call-ups.

Alonso has therefore lifted the lid on how Morata has been saddened by the snub despite having shown his return to form by netting against Leicester City over the weekend in Chelsea win.

"Alvaro wasn’t happy. He has gone through a difficult few months with a back injury. He is now 100 per cent and the other day he scored," said Alonso, as Sky Sports reveal.

However, the former Fiorentina man backs Morata to get back to his best after overcoming the injury that he believes has condemned the 24-year-old to the decline of form.

"He is a very important player for us. I hope he will do well from here until the end of the season and he gets to go to the World Cup," he said.

Morata joined Chelsea from Real Madrid in a£70m deal last summer. He went ahead and racked up 8 goals in 8 matches before disappearing in December last year after the back injury set in.

Lopetegui has opted for Atletico Madrid’s Diego Costa, Real Madrid Lucas Vazquez and former Liverpool attacker Iago Aspas and Valencia’s Rodrigo as the striker options.

Spain is playing Germany in a friendly match scheduled for March 23, Friday as they prepare for forthcoming World Cup test.

Alonso becomes the third person in his family to play in the Spanish national team after his father and his grandfather did the same.

The Spaniard has been on a flying-level of form by setting records in English premier league as the defender scoring the highest number of goals (13) in a year. He has been linked with a possible move to Spanish giants Barcelona after impressive performances.
