CS Wamalwa forgot to address me as his Excellency- Raila says during Yvonne’s memorial service

National Super Alliance (NASA) Coalition leader Raila Odinga on Saturday 3 February told Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa that he forgot to address him as his Excellency during Yvonne Wamalwa’s memorial service.

CS Wamalwa addressed Raila Odinga by his first name after welcoming him to the podium to give his speech.

“I remember one thing Mike (the late Michael Wamalwa) told me about Raila, I think he remembers. That the problem with Raila, you cannot love him or hate him in full. And he said that there’s something called Railaphobia and Railamania,” said CS Wamalwa as he exited the podium.

When Raila got to the podium, he said the CS Wamalwa forgot to address him as his Excellency. He added that he didn’t know whether it was deliberate or a mere omission.

“I have come to mourn a friend, Yvonne Wamalwa. But then Eugene forgot to say something… he forgot to address me as his Excellency. I don’t know whether that was deliberate or it was merely by omission. Because I don’t know why he called other people his ‘Excellency’s’ and he doesn’t think that a People’s president cannot be called his Excellency,” said Raila Odinga during his speech at the funeral.

Mr Odinga was sworn-in at Uhuru Park on January 30, 2018, as the People not the Republic of Kenya.

Raila Odinga said that Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka who was supposed to be sworn in as the People’s Deputy President of Kenya was not at the venue but was with them in spirit.

?The Opposition leader said that Kalonzo will be sworn in another day and an explanation of why he was absent will be communicated to them.
