Governor Granton Samboja nominates Jubilee loser to cabinet

Governor Granton Samboja

Governor Granton Samboja has nominated a Jubilee Party politician as the Public Service and Administration executive.

The name of Janet Oben who lost the Jubilee Party primaries to Woman Rep Lydia Haika has been forwarded to the county assembly for vetting.

The nominee, a close ally of Mr Samboja of Wiper Party and Taveta MP Naomi Shaban (Jubilee) recently lost the county assembly speaker's election to incumbent Meshack Maganga who is allied to ODM party.

During his inauguration, the governor promised to constitute an all-inclusive government to represent the face of the county.

County Assembly Clerk Michael Ngala confirmed that his office had already received the nominee’s name for vetting.

“Members of the public are invited to attend the county assembly Public Appointment Committee sittings for approval hearings and/or submit any information or comments on the suitability or otherwise of the candidate,” said Mr Ngala.

The candidate is expected to be vetted next Friday.

The nomination comes at a time when NASA leaders had accused the governor of embracing Jubilee administration.

“The nomination of the Jubilee politician is a clear manifestation that the governor has embraced the Jubilee government,” claimed county ODM organising secretary Raphael Mwawughanga.

Jubilee and NASA rivalry is expected to play out when the county assembly reconvenes.
