Thethy and Ciera lead the pack in Nairobi golf: Ciera collects 73 aggregate points to emerge the overall winner

Charan Thethy emerged the best professional in Chairman’s prize tournament.

Home golfer professional Charan Thethy emerged the best professional in the 2017 Chairman’s (John Wachira) prize golf tournament played at the par 72 Royal Nairobi golf course in Nairobi on Saturday.

Thethy carded a round total of five over par 77 gross to lead in the two-day event hosted in honour of the outgoing Club Chairman Wachira.

“It’s a home course with the greens and fairways in good condition and playing well,” said Thethy.

His club mates Elisha Kasuku and Eric Ooko tied on seven over par 79 gross each to claim the second slot.

In the Amateurs section, Bo Ciera collected 73 aggregate points to emerge the overall winner after playing a 40 and 37 in both rounds of the two days.

Caleb Kositany on 69 points (36-33), was the men’s winner and taking up the runner-up slot was Oscar Ikinu on 67 points (31-33).

Nicholas Siwatomi who had 38 points and Harrison Kariuki on 37 points were the Friday and Saturday winners respectively.

The lady winner was Njeri Onyango who posted 70 points (37-33). Njeri Kariuki was the lady runner-up on 58 points (31-27).

Past Chairmen prize was won by Barth Ragalo on 57 points (31+26) while J. J Masiga who had 57 points (33-24) settled for the senior prize.

Geoffe Collie was the veteran winner on 20 points (8-12) and the Best gross prize on 151 gross (76-75) went to Dennis saikwa.

Lawyer Lumatete Muchai who had 48 points (29-19) was awarded the Mombasa team winner, while Daniel Kibuga on 7 points and Oki Amayo on 26 points (12-14) were the most improved and Junior winners respectively.

At the par 72 Ruiru Sports course on Saturday, handicap 21 Sammy Wambugu posted a count back score of 40 points to emerge the overall winner of the 2017 Engineer Muaraguri and Friends golf tournament.

He had tied on the same score with handicap 26 Leonard Kibugu who was the winner and Handicap 19 Irene Wamoro on 32 points was the lady winner.
