Kharim Khan:British committed atrocious crimes against Talai clan

Deputy President William Ruto's lead council Kharim Khan during the proceedings of their case at the ICC Courts in Amsterdam on 14-01-2016 .

A British lawyer has liken the atrocities committed by the British against Talai clan during the colonial period to those committed against the Jews by the Nazis.

International criminal lawyer Kharim Khan also asked the British government to apologise and compensate members of the Talai clan and Kipsigis community for the historical injustices.

“Even though in 1945 international law stated that it was a crime to forcefully remove populations, impose collective punishment, we have evidence dating back to 1952 that members of the Talai clan were extradited and confined under inhuman conditions in Gwasi,” said Khan.

Khan spoke at Kericho Teachers Training College while giving progress report to residents on the landmark case. More than 100,000 members of the Kipsigis community and the Talai clan registered for the Sh2 trillion compensation case.
