Not all lies are out of malice - Six major reasons why men lie

Relationships are not a bed roses. This is a phrase people are so eager to throw at others. Although much is not thought about in terms of roses and their thorns, it is true that no one's relationship lacks these ups and downs.

Disagreement often arises from minor things, sometimes blown out of proportion. At other times, it is men accusing women and vice versa. One accusation against men that has lived year after year is that they lie a lot.

While men are keen to deny and defend themselves from these allegations, the truth is they lie. There are times they lie with valid reasons like:

 

To preserve the relationship

Men know well that admitting to small things they did could cause a storm in the relationship. A man might have spent his money in gambling but he could easily say he locked it in an account because he knows mentioning gamble will earn him several days of the cold war in his own house.

 

To balance between love and nature

Men have for ages been known to ‘kula kwa macho’, a phrase that implies men love eye candy. They are known to look at each pair of legs that walks past them. While women know this, they will continuously ask their men if they are looking at other women, for whatever purpose. If a man lies he is not, it is because he wants to assure his wife of his commitment in the affair.

 

Ego protection

It is a testimony from many women that their men say they will take care of things they fail to do. It is so common for a man to assure his wife that he will fix things. Whether financially or in the house, men will always be quick to promise things even when they are out their control. When a man says he will and fails to do, he only lied as he didn’t want to look out of control.

 

Avoidance

There are times when men lie about stuff going on in their lives. They lie about having problems at work, about financial troubles and such. If a man tells his wife that everything is okay when she can clearly tell it is not, it is not because she can’t help. He will rather solve his issues by himself rather than have his wife reminding him a million years later of how she helped.

 

Self preservation

Try asking a man how his past relationship was and the answer will be brief and untrue. Men know that talking about their exes triggers unwanted reactions from their wives. They opt for that simple way out of lying that the other woman was just plain. Even when the woman knows downright he is lying about it, a man chooses to keep all the steamy memories from his exes untold.

 

Fear of commitment

Most women are known to entirely depend on their spouses even when it's unnecessary. A woman will postpone going to the salon just to wait for when her husband is free so that he may accompany her there. Men, on the other hand, have known this and will always have tight schedules. A man will lie to his wife that he is working during the weekend just to skip that trip.

 

After learning this, women now know that sometimes men will lie just to keep things on the normal. Although lying is a vice which should be kept away from relationships, not all lies are malicious.
