Four suspects among them a mother and her daughter were charged with the killing of Murang'a businessman Peter Ndirangu.

Ndirangu's wife, Josephine Mwangi and his daughter, Veronica Wangui, appeared in court alongside Ezekiel Rauta and Reuben Leparan.

They were remanded at Murang’a GK Prison until November 4, 2017 when they will take plea before the High Court.

State counsel Keya Ombele informed Principal Magistrate Antony Mwicigi that investigations surrounding the killing of Ndirangu had been concluded.

Mr Ombele said the four had been taken for mental assessment and found fit to stand murder trial.

Ms Mwangi and Ms Wangui were arrested after the other two suspects allegedly claimed they had been hired for Sh80, 000 to eliminate the trader.

ARRIVED HOME

The murder took place at their Gakira home shortly after Ndirangu arrived home from Kangari market where he operated a hotel and liquor outlets.

The suspects were arrested on different dates after detectives investigating the matter pieced together the events of the fateful night.

Detectives arrested Mr Rauta in Nairobi on September 2 who assisted them in locating Mr Leparan from his hideout in Kisumu.

According to police, after interrogation, information from the two led to the arrest of the mother and daughter.

In the same court, two suspects in the killing of televangelist Bishop Pius Muiru's mother Grace Wangari will have their bond application heard on October 23 this year.

The two, Ezekiel Saitambua and Monica Muthoni, had lodged a bail application before the High Court.

The hearing is set for December.
