The body of the man killed after he invaded Deputy President William Ruto’s home in Sugoi, Uasin Gishu, has not been claimed.

The attacker, identified as Mohammed Ibrahim Mohamud, hailed from Tandu village in Mandera East.

According to Uasin Gishu County Criminal Investigation Officer Patrick Kiswii, police have not received any reports from the family asking for the body of their kin.

He noted that the events that led to the death of Mohamud may have caused fear in his family.

“So far, we have not received or heard anyone claiming they know or are related to him. I think the major reason his relatives fear to come out is because they fear arrest,” said Mr Kiswii.

He, however, urged the public not to speculate on the attack, adding that investigations were under way.

North Rift Council of Imams and Preachers of Kenya (CIPK) chairman Sheikh Abubakar Bini said they had not received any reports too.

“No one has come to us asking for Mohamud. We have not heard anyone from his family asking for him,” said the Imam.

On Monday, the Director of Criminal Investigation Ndegwa Muhoro called on the public to volunteer any information to help in establishing the motive of the attack.

A man identified as Abdulahi Abdikadir, and who is said to have hosted the hawker, has been detained for 20 days to help with investigations.
