County health department accuse nurses’ union over prompt strike which has paralyzed health operations

Elgeyo Marakwet County Executive Committee (CEC) Member in charge of health, Thomas Ruto has blamed the County Kenya National Union of Nurses (KNUN) Secretary Benson Biwott for not notifying them over the ongoing strike.

The operations stalled today at Iten county referral hospital as nurse strike over their allowance, promotions and their Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

Speaking to Journalists in his office based in Iten Town, Ruto said that he was shocked to hear the union declaring a strike while he was watching television at his home.



Ruto says that the letter addressed to his office by the union is vague and it is not conveying the message from honest hearts.
