Janet Ikua Kanini, the former NTV presenter will be laid to rest today (Saturday) at her home in Naromoru, Nyeri county.
On Friday friends, family and colleagues gathered at Nairobi Baptist church at a requiem mass to celebrate her life and to give their last respect to Janet.
In his emotional tribute, Janet Kanini’s husband said that he will sob, grieve then embark on the big responsibility left to him by his loved one -Janet of raising up their kids Pedro who is six years old and Jasmin who is now four years old.
He thanked Janet for loving her and committing to him as a wife and above all giving him two lovely children. As he concluded he said he will always celebrate her.
Everyone had something special to say about Janet. Her mother said that she will hold on her memories and the two children she left behind something that will keep them going especially during this moment when Janet is gone.
“Memories of her, her two children that she has left behind and her husband will keep us going. I look forward to having a close look at the picture of my little girl Kanini.May you soul rest in peace,” said the mother sobbing.
Janet sickness started in 2015 after he was diagnosed with deep veins thrombosis ( the formation of a blood clot within a deep vein, most commonly the legs).She travelled to India for further analysis where she was told she was suffering from stage four cancer.
She faced it all and stood tall. After undergoing treatment there were hopes that she will completely get healed.Her story brought hopes to many cancer patients.
When she was alive Kanini really thanked Doctors Beyond Borders free services that provides treatment cost comparisons, patient reviews. She said that they really helped her through her journey after the diagnosis.
She appreciated her condition and said that God gave her strength to go through it.Janet died at the age of 39.
