Police have mapped various hotspots in the country and deployed security accordingly ahead of the August polls. Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet said the police have been holding regular meetings with other security agencies for purposes of creating synergy and developing contingency plans.

“We are committed to providing a conducive environment for both the voters and the aspirants to exercise their democratic rights before, during, and after the General Election scheduled for August 8,” he said.

He added that the police were in active engagement with other relevant State agencies and other non-State stakeholders including religious organisations and civil society.

He spoke in his office in Nairobi.
