Global logistics company DHL Express has unveiled an entrepreneurial training programme in Kenya.

The Growing beyond Borders initiative aims to help small and medium enterprises realise their economic potential for international trade and its subsequent benefits.

Since its launch, the programme has been rolled out in Botswana, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, Madagascar, Nigeria, and South Africa. Uganda, Mauritius, and Ghana will launch the programme before the end of this month.

The country manager for DHL Express Kenya, Andrew Mutuma, said SMEs are considered the engines for growth in the country and the sub-Saharan Africa region.

“If we can empower SMEs to seize international opportunities, this will further stimulate much needed economic growth,” he said. Firms at the event explored areas around importing and exporting in new markets.
