NDI YOUTH LEADERSHIP AND CAMPAIGN TRAINING IN KISUMU

 The National Democratic Institute (NDI) starting from Monday had a three day training at The Vic Hotel, Kisumu County, to train serious youth aspirants on transformative leadership, campaign planning and preparation and alternative dispute resolution--negotiation skills--under the stewardship of Wanjiku Mbugua who is a consultant on governance, gender and communications.

The workshop imparted into aspirants eyeing various seats during the forthcoming General Elections slated for 8th August 2017 media relations, effective communication, and public speaking skills which will be facilitated by renowned Kenyan journalist Paul Ilado.


Dickson Omondi NDI's resident Country Director in Kenya thereafter took the future young leaders through challenges facing young people seeking political office, peaceful political engagement, conflict mapping and commitment to peaceful engagement and campaigns.


The workshop brought together aspirants from Homa Bay, Kisumu and Siaya counties who have shown interests in vying for various elective positions.


In attendance are aspirants of all gender representing various political parties and independent candidates.


The National Democratic Institute (NDI), or National Democratic Institute for International Affairs, is a non-partisan, non-profit organization that works with partners in developing countries like Kenya to increase the effectiveness of democratic institutions.
