Ignore strike notice, nurses told as negotiations continue

The Kenya National Union of Nurses (KNUN) officials and National Nurses Association of Kenya (NNAK) have called on nurses to ignore the strike notice issued by KNUN Secretary General Seth Panyako as the negotiations were on-going.

The two nurses’ representatives accused Mr Panyako of presenting a premature Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) document.

“The nurses’ leadership wish to disown the recent CBA document published in the media by Mr Panyako as it is a diversionary tactic. We also condemn the pronouncement of the strike by him and we urge nurses to ignore any calls for strike,” read the statement.

The union officials led by Joseph Wadereva (National Organising Secretary), Lawrence Kinyua (Deputy Secretary General), Apharxard Kemboi (National Treasurer) and Jeremiah Maina (Chairman nnak) said negotiations on the nurses welfare were still in progress.
