Celebrated police officer now receives death threats

Just two months after The Standard highlighted the good work of Corporal David Chumo of Ntulele Police Station, Narok County, today, he is a wanted man by poachers and illegal charcoal dealers.

Mr Chumo alleges to have been receiving threatening messages, and being trailed by unknown people.

On Monday, Chumo received a message threatening him with death because of 'the trouble' he has put the poachers and the dealers through.

Only last month he had to change his car after he spotted a vehicle trailing him from Narok to Ntulele, and even to his home.

The message seen by The Standard threatens the officer with death for arresting “brothers” on a mission to fend for their families.

"Hi Chumo. Hope you know us. You have arrested and jail (sic) our brothers while looking for loaf for their children. Unakumbuka hawa KAN 389M, KBT 614H, KBG 580R, KAP 981S, KBS 259G, KAP 486K, Otange and recently KAT 891H?. All landed in court and u refuse our money. Umesaidika na nini? Enough is enough. You will die mysteriously. Kimaiyo and Uhuru will not feed your family. We are coming for your head,” read the message.
