Kenya and Seychelles agree to end double taxation

NAIROBI, KENYA: Seychelles Foreign Affairs Minister Jean Paul Adam has commended President Uhuru Kenyatta for his transformational leadership, terming it an ‘inspiration’ to the whole region.

Mr. Adam said Seychelles was looking forward to working more closely with the Jubilee administration for the benefit of the people of the two countries.

The visiting Seychelles Foreign Affairs Minister cited tourism and fisheries as areas that the two countries could aggressively exploit in their enhanced cooperation.

Mr. Adam, who has been in the country for the last two days, was speaking on Wednesday when he paid a courtesy call on President Kenyatta at State House, Nairobi. He said his visit has been fruitful as it resulted in the signing of an MOU between Kenya and Seychelles on the Avoidance of Double taxation, a move that will enhance trade ties between the two countries.

On his part, President Kenyatta welcomed Seychelles’ move to strengthen bilateral ties and pledged Kenya’s readiness to play its part in boosting cooperation in tourism, fisheries and other areas of mutual benefit.

Noting that Kenya and Seychelles occupied a strategic position in the region, President Kenyatta said the two countries should use their potentials to achieve their economic and development goals.

He said Kenya and Seychelles had a lot to share in fisheries and tourism, adding that the two countries would have a stronger voice if they articulated their interests jointly.
