Kenya Airways continues to dominate the men’s Nairobi Basketball Association (NBA) Division Two table league with 59 points following their 94-67 win against Baraka Extremes at Nairobi Railway Club at the weekend.
The national carrier have so far won 29 of the 30 matches played and there is no doubt their eyes are set on the Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) Division One league next season.
Don Bosco also took their points tally to 44 this week, following their 74-57 win against Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (Jkuat).
Old Pirates 65-64 win against Upper Hill School have seen them retain their fifth position in the league with 51 points.
The NBA league ends at the end of the month and organisers have already set October 1 and 2 for playoffs.
The playoffs will also see former Kenyan internationals, led by NBA chairman Roni Owino, take back to the court to play against a selected NBA side to spice up the playoffs.
Former internationals who have so far confirmed their participation in the exhibition match include Owino who is former national team captain and current men’s national team coach, Jaffrey Amugune, arguably the best shooter Kenya has ever had in basketball, Gitau Waringo who currently doubles up as a wood ball player and Patrick Kariuki.
The NBA women’s category, which has five teams, will commence in the semi-finals stage at the playoffs.
"The semi-finals (both men and women) will be played to the best of five series," said Owino.
Top six men’s teams will proceed for KBF provincial play-offs where two top teams will qualify for the KBF men’s Division One.
The ladies winning team to proceed direct to the KBF Premier League.
Memorable weekend
In other NBA results at the weekend, Upper Hill School beat Heroes 63-46 as Jkuat had a memorable weekend, winning against Legacy 64-59 and on Heroes 70-51 to carry the day.
Multimedia University also moved a step up the ladder after picking two easy points with 20 baskets on walkover against Dolphins who failed to show up for their clash.

Kenyatta University Pirates ,too, won against Little Prince 69-36 to retain their fourth position in the league with 51 points.
Upper Hill beat Legacy 60-47 Legacy. Safe Spaces are the current league leaders in the NBA women’s category.
