Paris-bound Air Mauritius flight reroutes to Cairo after passenger falls ill

An Air Mauritius aeroplane en route to Paris, France was on Tuesday, March 14 forced to reroute to Cairo, Egypt after a passenger developed health problems.

Through a statement, Air Mauritius said that its Airbus A350-900 of registration number MK 014 departed Mauritius airport for Paris at 10:53pm on Monday Mauritius Time (9:53pm East Africa Time).

During the journey, a passenger of French nationality developed health problems, prompting the crew on board to administer first aid to the traveller.

The Paris-bound flight, thereafter, rerouted to Cairo.

"Upon arrival at the Cairo International Airport, the passenger was transferred to the hospital for appropriate treatment," Air Mauritius said.

"After obtaining clearance from relevant authorities, flight MK 014 departed from Cairo International Airport at 8:11 local time (7:11am East Africa Time)," added the airline.

The aeroplane arrived in Paris at 11:30am Mauritius Time (10:30 am East Africa Time).
