Remarks
by CORD leader Raila Odinga on President Kenyatta's alleged lack of support for
government auditor general's fight against corruption raised uproar among
Kenyans on twitter.
While
in Nyacheki, Kisii County on Monday, Mr Odinga dared the government to
prosecute Mr. Edward Ouko, the auditor general over the alleged noncompliance
with procurement procedures in acquiring an auditing systems said to be worth
Sh18 million at Sh100 Million.
"You
say there is nothing you can do about corruption yet you are intimidating those
who want to do something about it," said one by @Nyandiga001 in a tweet
under #TellOffUhuruOnAGOuko.
Concerned
with the tribal lines which had been taken on the social media platform,
Godfrey Sheri, @76manuela said the war against corruption will be lost if
handled on ethnic lines.
"The moment we look at Mr Ouko as a Luo then the battle
against corruption is lost." He said in a tweet.
President Kenyatta's comment on the Euro bond saga concern raised
during the statehouse summit on transparency raised eyebrows over his support
for the auditor general's efforts in investigation of likely corrupt deals.
Giving his views, Osoro Michael said it would be good to have suspicions
on Mr Ouko investigated just as any suspect would be.
He said that Kenya would go wrong as a country of people
protecting their own.
"If Mr. Ouko is mentioned in anyway in corruption, he should
also be investigated, remember Anne Waiguru was a 'whistleblower'." read
