Government must act to protect Kenyans from cruel domestic employers in Saudi Arabia

The Kenya Government must immediately call upon the Saudi Arabian Government to set up an emergency help line centre where all domestic workers can call anonymously to report in case their employers are sexually or physically abusing them.

Upon which Saudi authorities will rush to their rescue and severely punish the respective abusive employers. This will serve as a warning to future employers that they will not get away with cruel treatment of innocent domestic workers.

It is truly sad and unfortunate that the dreams of many Kenyan domestic workers in the Middle East have turned into nightmares, as they are just seeking to better their lives and assist their impoverished families back home.

We must look for ways as a country to create opportunities for our people in their own country so that they don’t have to put their lives at risk in the Middle East just because they cannot live dignified lives in their own motherland.
