I first came to Nairobi in 2012 as the Tusker Project Fame judge. I know it sounds funny that I had never come to Kenya yet I had traveled to most African countries and even to America.
One thing I noticed about Kenyans is that they really love foreigners. The reception I got for just being a Ugandan was overwhelming. Did I mention how good Nairobi restaurants are?
I used to hang out every night because I loved the food and the services. I must admit that Nairobians love having fun. We would go out and by 11pm I would be too tired but my Kenyan friends wanted to go on. Ironically, they would be up earlier than me the next day. I call it the Kenyan energy.
My most memorable experience is when I went to a shopping mall and bumped into a woman who recognised me. She started dancing to my music pointing at me. She was speechless. We never got to take photos but I don’t think I will ever forget her humbling love for me. She was genuine.
