I came to Nairobi in October 2014.
The first thing I liked about Nairobi was its centrality, both in the country and the world.
It is easily accessible globally.
During my stay, I discovered that Kenyans are wonderful people.
They have a great sense of humour and don’t hesitate to ask questions.
I have been to other places in the world where people are very shy to question anything or anyone.
It was also a great pleasure to learn that Kenyans are the biggest consumers of Guinness beer outside Ireland.
In exchange, nearly a third of the people who consume Kenyan tea outside Kenya are Irish!
Outside Nairobi, I have gone fishing in South Coast, Diani and the last time I was there, I caught a 12.5 kilo fish. I hope to go back and catch even a bigger one.
I liked the fact that if I fall sick, there are hospitals that I can trust.
However, traffic in Nairobi is a mess! Looks like you borrow a leaf from world cities, including Dublin.
Back at home, I cycle to work, but unfortunately you can’t do that in Nairobi.
Security is also an issue, though it is a global problem.
