Traders protest eviction ahead of beatification

More than 800 traders are protesting harassment by the county government after they were issued with a notice to demolish their structures and pave way for the clean-up of the town ahead of the beatification of Sister Irene ‘Nyaatha’ Stefani.

Thursday, the traders closed down their business and staged peaceful demonstrations at the Nyeri Whispers Park. The traders sent a delegation to present their grievances to Governor Nderitu Gachagua and warned that they would continue with the demos across the entire county if the notice is not withdrawn.
