Kitengela police recover stolen goods, nab four

Four robbery suspects were yesterday arrested by police officers in Kitengela.

The suspects were cornered by Administration Police officers on patrol in Milimani estate on Saturday night. The officers became suspicious of a saloon car whose headlights were brightened and dimmed several times.

When the officers drew near, the suspects put off the lights despite a heavy downpour that had caused total darkness in the area.

Police found suspected stolen property including electronics, clothes and solar panels in the car.

The suspects were also found with two toy pistols, a bunch of keys, a hammer and other crude weapons. They also had a paste-like substance which police suspect they used to drug their victims.

Isinya OCPD Stephen Weda said the suspects could be members of a gang that has been terrorising Kitengela town and its environs in the recent past, which has seen crime in the area escalate.

“A cartel of gangsters has been terrorising Kitengela residents and household goods worth thousands of shillings have been reported stolen. The four suspects we have in custody will help us bring to book all gangsters,” he said.

By the time we went to press, owners of the items found in the car had identified them. The vehicle is known to operate as a taxi in Kitengela town.
