Shock as decomposing body of woman is found in a hotel room

Migori, Kenya: Residents of Migori were shocked Tuesday when a decomposing body of a 19-year-old woman was found at a hotel room in the town.

According to Migori Deputy OCPD Patrick Moibi, one attendant of the hotel discovered the body after two days.

"The first witness's account was that he was attracted by a foul smell from one of the hotel rooms, something that made him to raise alarm because the stench suggested there was something suspicious that was decomposing," said Moibi.

The officer said the woman had booked the room with a man also identified only as Otieno Friday last week before she was found dead.

The body was found on the floor of the room, lying in a drench of blood. Police said preliminary investigation indicate that she may have died of stab wounds which were visible on her body.

Police added that the suspected killer had alerted the hotel management that the room in which he and the lady were putting up did not require any cleaning.

This is a third incident in Migori County where bodies of women are recovered from buildings after being killed.

Last month, a body of a teenage girl was found in a quack's clinic at Opapo, Rongo Sub-county.

Police are yet to arrest any suspect in connection with the killing.

The body of the woman is at Migori hospital, awaiting post-mortem.
