One killed, six injured in grenade attack in Wajir Town

One person was on Monday night killed and six injured in a grenade attack at a food kiosk in Wajir town.

A man hurled the explosive devise into the food joint as revelers were enjoying and escaped on foot. Police said no arrest has been made so far and they are yet to know the motive of the attack.

North Eastern region police commander Patrick Lumumba said the injured were rushed to the local hospital where they are nursing wounds.

“We are yet to make any arrest and establish the motive of the incident. Those who were injured are stable in hospital,” said Lumumba.

The attack is the latest in a series that have occurred in the area over the last years claiming dozens of lives. The attacks have been persistent with various issues being cited as cause. The issues include sympathisers of Al-Shabaab and business rivalry.
