A man who told the court that he loves his wife to bits pleaded guilty to stabbing her leg after a quarrel.
Nicholas Oloo, a caterer, is accused of inflicting grievous harm on Lilian Atieno on May 3, 2016 in Nairobi’s Ruaraka area.
According to the prosecution, the 43-year-old got home on the material evening from work and found his wife watching news.
Minutes later, Oloo received a call from his brother in the village with news about medication regarding their daughter which led to a quarrel over why she left the daughter with a neighbour who had kicked her out
The wife tried calming him, saying everything was settled as she had talked to the neighbour. But Oloo is said to have been very furious and picked a panga with which he stabbed her in leg, leaving her bleeding.
She was rushed to hospital where she was admitted for a month. A report was later made leading to the arrest of the accused.
“I am very remorseful of the act and plead with the court for leniency. I love my wife and I should be forgiven since it was just quarrel,” he told court while pleading for leniency.
The magistrate will make a ruling when Oloo’s probation report is tabled in court in two weeks’ time.
