Collins Ojiambo, playing off handicap 23, carded a solid score of 44 stableford points to win the Madison Insurance Corporate Golf day at the par 72 Muthaiga Golf Club last Friday.

Ojay returned a score of 17 points on the outward nine and topped it up with another 27 points from the inward nine to clinch the overall prize in the tournament that saw 256 golfers take part.

"I started play under the harsh cold in the morning and had to borrow golf balls after switching my bag before coming to the course. I took a dip on the first hole, but thank God I went on to play two over Gross with a single bogey through my round," said Ojay.

Duncan Mwaniki, playing off handicap 17, was men winner on a score of 43 (19+24) stableford points with handicap 17 C Kiai finishing second prize on a score of 37 (17+20) stableford points.

P Kiguru was third on a score of 36 (16+20) stableford points, edging out Chric Maranga 36 (16+20) and L Owiti 36 (17+19) on count back.

Handicap 12, Mercy Wambugu donned the Ladies' medal after posting 21 points on the outward nine and 17 points on the inward nine for a total of 38 points, as handicap 27, Veronica Nduva was second on 37 (16+21) stableford points.

This tournament is a small way of saying "Ahsante" and we shall be moving to Nyanza, Eldoret, Kitale, Nakuru, Thika, Nyeri, Machakos, Nyali and Machakos in the coming months," said Madison Group Chairman, Sam Ngaruiya at the prize giving ceremony. 

Maurice K'Anjejo, who had his ball marked two feet from the flag, won the nearest to the Pin prize, as G Feliz won Longest Drive with a 312 yard Tee shot, while Mercy Wambugu had a perfect birthday present by winning the Longest Drive in the ladies' category with a 240 yards tee-shot.

Handicap 6, Celest Kilinda won the Gross prize with a 77 score, while J Wainaina, playing off handicap 16, bagged the staff prize on a score of 27 (12+15) stableford points. Stanley Karanja was second prize on 25 (12+13) stableford points.
