Arsene Wenger speaks on Guardiola coming to England ahead of the Gunners' trip to Bournemouth

Wenger shouts instructions from the touchline

On Guardiola coming to England

Would he have been a good Arsenal manager? “I will not choose my successor here. I just want to leave the club in a position where it can do better when I am gone.”

Will he find the Premier League easy? “If you look at the tendency in the Premier League it looks difficult to have a high win percentage. The Premier League is more difficult than any other league.”

On ticket prices/TV money

“We are a company who on one side people want you to buy more players, the prices of players goes up so we need to supplement the ability to buy new players.

“The pressure on spending will become greater and you can not always distribute the money to other people.”

On Chinese activity in the transfer market

Should English clubs be worried? “Yes. Because China looks to have the financial power to move the whole European league to China. We know it is a consequence of economic power. Will they sustain their interest?

“I don’t know how deep the desire is. If the political desire is there we should worry.”

On Merson saying he should have bought a striker

“Everyone is entitled to an opinion. We have Sanchez, Walcott, Welbeck. We have Giroud. I did not see any better strikers in the transfer window.”

On lack of goals in last three games

“We played at Stoke, 0-0 is not a shame. Against Chelsea we played with 10 men. Against Southampton we created the chances and couldn’t finish them off.

“We should not be alarmist.”

On Bournemouth

Will they stay up? “Yes. I always said that since I first watched them.”

On Spurs

“Since I am here Tottenham are always a top team.

“Every season they are a threat. Honestly I’m not obsessed by that. I’m obsessed that we perform well.”

On current form

“We have to look at the facts. We haven’t won for four games. We want to come back for winning.

“Before looking at others look at yourself, come back and win the next game.”

On the title race

How many teams in the title race? “Five or sixth.”

Are West Ham in sixth place in the title race? “Mathematically, yes.”

On Rosicky

“We are all shocked, we hope it is not his last game.

“He will not need surgery.”

On Afobe

“I think the best way to stop our opponent is to be dangerous. We are aware that Benik is quick, sharp, has good movement in the box.

“In every club are top quality strikers.”

Team news...

“We lost Rosicky. Everything else is normal.”

“Welbeck will play for the U21s. He needs to play two or three games before coming back to the first team. He has been out for 10 months.

“In the next three weeks he should be available.”
