Socialite Corazon Kwamboka quits celebrity life

Swimming

Pulse: Word had it that Ice Prince was to feature you in his new video that was shot over the weekend. Did that happen?

Corazon Kwamboka: No. He called me asking me to be in the video but I couldn’t do it. I explained it to him why and I think he got someone else but I don’t know who.

P: Why did you decline?

CK: Because of integrity issues. I am now focused on my clothes line and law career. That is what I am doing now

P: Is it true he met you on social media, specifically on Instagram, after seeing your photos and liking what he saw?

CK: I have actually been to Nigeria but I had never met him. A friend of mine told me he was looking for my number so I gave it to him and he called me. My Instagram is open so maybe he saw me from there.

P: How much was he willing to pay?

CK: It was good money but I don’t want to disclose the amount, let’s just say it was six digits.

P: Is your new status the end of the Corazon we knew?

CK: Yes, that’s it. No more!

P: What about those suggestive photos you used to take?

CK: I stopped taking photos. When was the last time you saw a recent photo of mine? When I do I just keep them on my phone.

P: Is it true that, with your background in law, you had to deal with integrity issues that could have threatened your admission to the bar?

CK: Integrity is about honesty and my photos don’t touch on my character. I don’t regret taking the photos but I feel like I really shouldn’t have taken one or two of them, though I don’t do it anymore. If it was someone else they wouldn’t be judged but because I am curvaceous and well-known it becomes a problem.

P: So you will be admitted to the bar?

CK: I’ll have to wait and see. What I know is that I passed my exams at the School of Law, which many people don’t and now I am doing my pupillage at a law firm for six months before I am reviewed to be admitted to the bar.

P: So, which photos do you regret taking?

CK: I would rather not say (laughs).

P: What do your parents feel about the social lifestyle you are known for?

CK: My parents are not happy. But at the end of the day, I love my body and I enjoy taking photos because I’m photogenic but now, when I do, I don’t put them out there.

P: Do you see yourself as a socialite?

CK: No. I get offended when people call me that. The definition of a socialite in Africa is a shallow person who has money and I am not that. I am an intelligent person.

P: Will you forfeit acting and TV altogether?

CK: No. I’m actually currently working with a new TV station on a talk show that will be out in the beginning of October. And also a YouTube show with Calif records about my life that should start as soon as possible, maybe next week.

P: You now have a clothes line called ‘Genie Effect’. How is that coming along?

CK: That’s my brand name. I made a few pieces of my own and other pieces I buy from the United Kingdom and then sell. I started it last year in August.

P: But most designer clothes are pricey...

CK: The most expensive dress is a cotton maxi, which goes for about Sh15,000. But I found a cheaper supplier from China so the prices have gone down. You can get a piece that I make for between Sh5,000 and Sh6,000 and something from the UK for as little as Sh3,500.

P: Are you dating?

CK: Yes.

P: Is it someone in the public eye?

CK: Yes, he is in the entertainment industry but he is not well-known.

P: How long have you been together?

CK: For a while. It’s been on and off since last year June.
