Blow to Manchester United as their target set for a new deal at Real Madrid

Sergio Ramos will sign a new deal at Real Madrid that ties him to the club until, at least, June 2020.

The Spain defender has been angling for a move to Old Trafford all summer after behind-the-scenes complaints that he didn’t feel as valued as Madrid’s top tier of stars.

But after a successful meeting with club president Florentino Perez, Marca reports that Ramos has come to an agreement which extends his previous deal by three years and almost guarantees that the centre-back ends his career with the Spanish giants.

Ramos has been given the captain’s armband in the wake of Iker Casillas’ departure, and has received a significant pay-rise to a level that would befit someone who was Real Madrid skipper.
