DEBUT: Kenya’s Lawrence Cherono, Costa triumph in Seville race

Kenya’s Lawrence Cherono and Portugal’s Filomena Costa triumphed at the Zurich Maraton de Sevilla, an IAAF Bronze Label Road Race, clocking 2:09:40 and 2:28:01 respectively on Sunday. Both runners have every reason to be happy with their performance in the Spanish city. It was a winning debut over the classic distance for Cherono while Costa took more than three minutes off her personal best on her 30th birthday. Cherono will now focus on the 10km and 21km road races before returning to marathon in Berlin or Chicago in October. — IAAF
