Kenya A coach admits they are set to overturn aggregate against Uganda

Kenya A coach Dominique Habimana has admitted they are feeling the pressure ahead of their match against Uganda today, but not enough to disrupt the development programme they are embarking on.

The two sides meet at the RFUEA grounds for the second leg of the Elgon Cup, with Kenya trailing by seven points aggregate after their first leg loss in Kampala.

The side currently playing in the Elgon Cup can be considered a third string side, considering Kenya's top thirty players who were involved in the World Cup qualifiers last month have not been included in the side.

Speaking to FeverPitch during their preparation, head coach Dominique Habimana claimed that despite the deficit and need to win, they will not call upon the players who took part in Madagascar to rescue the side.

"The national team has a wide berth of players who are all capable of carrying out the task at hand," he said.

"The players who took part in Madagascar are in a different cycle right now and they will continue with their own programme. These pool of players in the Elgon Cup are the next crop of players and we need to develop them accordingly for the future of the sport," he added.

Habimana went on to explain that they lost in the first leg because they had not prepared as much as they would have wanted to, but as the team progresses they are slowly getting better with time.

"It was the first time that that batch of players were playing together, so you can expect a bit of errors and wrong decision making, but as we have continued training, the boys look sharper and I am confident we can overturn the deficit to win the title," he added.

It will be an action packed weekend at the RFUEA grounds as the national under-19 teams and women's teams for both countries will also be available for the games.

Uganda won both the senior and junior games in Uganda last weekend, while Kenya won the women's competition. Kenya will be hoping the home advantage will help them overturn their aggregate and scoop all three categories.

In preparation for the Under-19 game, head coach Paul Murunga has made seven changes to the side that lost 10-15 to Uganda last weekend.

The side is using the clash as part of their preparation for the Confederation of African Rugby U-19 championships slated for Namibia next month.
