A young man is demanding his inheritance from a senior commissioner with the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), whom he claims to be is his biological father.

David Asin claims that Commissioner Cosmas Asin has deserted his family, and that he had ordered him out of their rural home.

David, 23, wants the ‘father’ to give him part of his vast wealth that includes properties in Nairobi and Siaya. David claims that his father also owns Kamunga hotel in Ugunja.

Cosmas has however denied David’s claims that he is his biological father.

“He has been masquerading as my son. His grandfather took me to the Children’s Court, but they were unable to prove he is my son,” claims Cosmas.

On April 10, the young Asin hitchhiked from Siaya to see his father in Donholm, Nairobi, but was allegedly rebuffed by his young stepmother. He is said to have spent the night at a petrol station in Kawangware before well-wishers paid his fare back to his rural home.

The second-born in a family of two lost his mother in controversial circumstances in 1995 and was brought up by the maternal grandparents and uncles, who have since died, leaving him at the mercy of paternal kin who have rejected him.

David claims that Cosmas paid dowry for his late mother Jane Atieno — but things changed when she was found killed in her house in Nairobi.

“Father claims the matter is in court, but we don’t know anything about the case,” he claims.

Cosmas however claims Atieno was stabbed to death by her purported husband who is still missing to date.

“She was married to somebody else, not me. I only have two wives and 10 children. None of my children is idle,” he said.

“He is driven by economic hardships. Even my children back home have issues with him. He has been quarrelling them frequently,” claims Cosmas.

David claims that Cosmas has been using his influence and money to intimidate him by using proxies in the police and local authorities whenever he visits Alego, Siaya.

But Cosmas, in a counter accusation, alleges that David has threatened him with unspecified action. “I have text messages in which he claims he will do something,” added Cosmas.
