The officers had been watching a football march between Manchester City and Monaco.

NAIROBI: A policeman shot dead his colleague, injured another one before he turned the gun on himself and died in an argument in Tassia area, Nairobi.

The three officers were apparently together and had been in a bar before they argued and stepped out of the joint on Tuesday at about 1.30am, witnesses said.

According to police, the argument persisted outside the bar before one of them pulled out a gun and shot the first colleague injuring him.

They had been watching a football march between Manchester City and Monaco.

Constable Patrick Kihagi who was attached to Embakasi police station is accused of shooting dead Constable James Makokha in the incident. Kihagi had shot and wounded Constable Dominic Ng’etich who is attached to JKIA police station.

According to the survivor, Makokha who was attached to Jogoo House tried to intervene. This angered Kihagi who to turned on Makokha fatally wounding him on the spot.

It was then that the killer officer turned the gun on himself and blew up his brains.

Ngetich escaped on foot after sustaining an injury in the shoulder. He walked to a clinic in the area where he was attended to.

It is not clear what the officers were arguing over but a probe is ongoing.

He told his seniors that Kihagi and Makokha started to struggle after the first shooting before it turned fatal, which gave him room to escape.

Nairobi police boss Japheth Koome said other officers rushed to the scene after they heard gunshots from the site.

“We don’t know what transpired to lead to the fatal shooting incident,” he said.

The bodies were moved to the mortuary as investigators started their probe into the incident.
