Five more live bombs fished out of Lake Victoria

Fishermen yesterday fished out five live bombs from Lake Victoria. The fishermen initially thought they had caught a huge Nile Perch after noticing that their net was heavier than usual, only to haul in a huge metal box containing neatly arranged bombs.

Last month, another team of fishermen stumbled on six live bombs near Ike Beach in Sindo. Police now suspect the lake could have been used as a dumping ground for ammunition during World War II, 72 years ago.
